Had a great time at the Channing Daughters winnery! Loved the Spectrum flight, and particularly the #4, blaufrankisch sylvanus red (especially if you are not a red wine person). However, I do not understand why we were charged 5dol per person for our reservation, since this did not happen at other (even nicer) winneries. The vibes were good, but sad that we could not walk through the wineyards!
Pros:
Pleasantly orchestrated & informative wine tasting selections. :)
Friendly staff.
Good service.
Averagely priced.
Yummy black truffle potato chips.
Cons:
Cramped space.
Restrooms need renovation.
The wines we tried didn’t really stand out, except for the 2019 Sparkling Tocai Friulano Petillant Naturel.
Nevertheless, we had a great time.
We’ll give this place another chance, and perhaps bring a few family members as well. :)
Fantastic winery. Anthony really made my tasting special. He is so personable, knowledgeable and he recommended a couple of wines that were not part of my Spectrum tasting, and they were absolutely superb. I ended up buying six bottles in total. I will happily be back, as they have some really different and interesting wines and the whole tasting has been my favorite anywhere, including the Finger Lakes. The Rosato Cab Franc, the Meditazione, and the Tocai Friulano Petillant Naturel were my favorites!
So happy to have gone here during my trip to the Hamptons. Thank you, Anthony! You’re a rockstar!
Laura, our host, was incredibly generous and made this a memorable experience. Not to mention the beautiful landscape as the sun went down. I fell in love with this low-key gem, surrounded by art sculptures handcrafted by the owner himself.
The Spectrum Flight was a great choice with the Heart White + Moscato being favorites! Marcona almonds and Brie Cheese perfectly paired with the wine.
Will definitely be coming back to this scenic wine tasting!
Orange flight is amazing and the staff is super friendly. It's an intimate experience.
We stopped at Channing Daughters, our 5th winery on Long Island on a short wine trip, and found it to be a mixed bag on service. The seating was picnic style tables with attached benches which got pretty uncomfortable as we worked our way through the tasting. The wait staff that seated us didn't seem happy to be there or to help us with our wine selection, etc. The food options were OK, but their food license prevented them from plating the food. Then another server, a long time customer came by and gave us more information on the wines and background on the winery.
The wine was disappointing across all the varietals. It may be they are fairly new to the business of conducting tastings and making wine. The wines came off as overly acidic. The other notable was the sentiment in one of the wines.
Channing is building a new tasting hall (I think that is what is planned), so hopefully the service and wines will catch up with the neighboring wineries.
Came around noon on a Saturday in off season. Exceptional wine tasting. Anthony was super friendly and knowledgeable, and he hooked us up! Wines and vermouths were solid across the board, and we ended up grabbing a pair to take home with us. One of the best tasting experiences we’ve had. Well worth a stop.
Cute place I have wanted to try this place for years. I drove by a number of times. Nice location the wine was ok. I wished they had better food selections. Staff was friendly. The tasting area was cute but other wineries in the area have better tasting areas. But you have to come here they have a nice outdoor area and great view of the vines.
